SINGAPORE<\/strong> – Mapletree Investments (\u201cMapletree\u201d or \u201cthe Group\u201d) is pleased to announce the official launch of the Mapletree Edible Garden at Alexandra Retail Centre (\u201cARC\u201d) by the Group\u2019s Corporate Social Responsibility (\u201cCSR\u201d) Board Committee on 8 December 2025. Opened in September 2025, the rooftop edible garden on Level 3 of the retail mall has produced more than 30 kilograms (\u201ckg\u201d) of crops to date, comprising nine different vegetable varieties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a community initiative aligned with Mapletree\u2019s CSR Framework, under the Environment Pillar. The garden, primarily maintained by volunteers, is a space for the working community of Mapletree Business City (\u201cMBC\u201d), mTower and ARC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 30 volunteers, including Mapletree staff and tenants from the working community of Alexandra Precinct such as BW Offshore Holdings Pte Ltd, JGC Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. and Pfizer Asia, received hands-on training in basic gardening skills by Singapore-based agricultural start-up Corridor Farmers. As at 30 November 2025, the volunteers contributed a total of 211 hours to the garden and harvested an assortment of vegetables including aubergine, basil, bok choy, kangkong, lady\u2019s fingers, laksa leaf, lettuce, mint and pandan. (Refer to Annex A<\/strong> for the top three highest-yielding crops and their respective harvest weights.)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree said, \u201cThe Mapletree Edible Garden is a practical step towards building stronger food resilience, in addition to transforming an existing urban space into a community-focused green corner. It gives our community access to fresh produce and supports sustainability in our daily lives. Mapletree will continue championing sustainable initiatives that enrich lives.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Volunteer Ms Koh Mei Ling, APAC & LATAM Operations Lead, Pfizer Asia said, \u201cIn just three months, the garden has progressively transformed week by week. The first harvest of lady\u2019s fingers and basil was a proud moment as I brought the produce home. This simple activity has offered a meaningful way to reconnect with nature.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To amplify its impact, the edible garden is registered under the National Parks Board\u2019s Community in Bloom (\u201cCIB\u201d) Programme. This nationwide gardening programme cultivates a gardening culture and promotes civic ownership and community stewardship through gardening activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The garden also participated in CIB\u2019s recent Grow and Share<\/em> initiative and shared a portion of its first harvest with surrounding communities, as part of Mapletree\u2019s commitment to giving back. Among the partners was NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Telok Blangah), where a substantial amount of the harvest was shared with the seniors.
