SINGAPORE<\/strong> \u2013 Mapletree Investments (\u201cMapletree\u201d or \u201cthe Group\u201d) is pleased to announce more than 10,000 individuals visited the second instalment of Two Rivers<\/em>, marking a successful turnout of the photography exhibition by Paris-based Singaporean photographer Melisa Teo organised in celebration of the 60th anniversary of France-Singapore diplomatic relations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Held at Singapore\u2019s largest shopping mall, VivoCity, the exhibition welcomed visitors of all ages, including seniors from active ageing centres during the four-week period between 4 June and 4 July 2025. Two Rivers<\/em> is a captivating exploration of life, memory and dreams, featuring images from the Singapore River and the Seine River in Paris, France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following selection by two judges \u2013 photographer Melisa Teo and Ms Melissa Tan, Director of Corporate Communications, Mapletree, nine winners from My Two Rivers: Young Artist Competition<\/em><\/strong> were presented with up to S$200 VivoCity eVouchers each on the last day of the Two Rivers<\/em> (Part II) exhibition at VivoCity\u2019s South-West Boulevard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The contest received close to 80 artworks for the Junior (seven to 12 years old) and Youth (13 to 16 years old) categories, which centred on the theme My Two Rivers<\/em>, exploring the vital role rivers play in shaping human civilisations. The details of the prize winners are provided in Annex A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree said, \u201cMapletree is proud to have supported Melisa Teo, including Two Rivers<\/em> (Part II) exhibition at VivoCity. I am heartened that this has brought the arts closer to our communities and provided a memorable experience for the wider audience to enjoy. Aligned with the arts pillar of our Corporate Social Responsibility Framework, Mapletree will continue to expand access and encourage appreciation of the arts to pave the way for a more gracious society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Photographer Melisa Teo said, \u201cThe purpose of sharing art is transmission. With Part II of the Two Rivers<\/em> exhibition at VivoCity, Mapletree has gone a step further \u2013 not only by extending the showcase, but by creating meaningful opportunities for young people to engage with my work. Through the Young Artist Competition<\/em>, they invited young children to reimagine my photographs using their own colours, and encouraged young adults to explore the theme of My Two Rivers<\/em> from their own perspectives. This act of interpretation \u2013 literal or metaphorical \u2013 gives each participant the chance to see differently, feel deeply and express freely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs an artist, I could not ask for a more fulfilling outcome than to see my work spark imagination in others. It has been a privilege to reach such a wide audience \u2013 across generations and backgrounds \u2013 in such an open, public space: by the sea, where all rivers eventually meet,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
14-year-old Isabelle Tay, one of the top three awardees from the Youth category shared, \u201cThe exhibits were really beautiful and pretty They remind me of paintings and I enjoy the arts too. Being among the top three for my category is a rewarding acknowledgement of my passion and encourages me to keep drawing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two Rivers<\/em> (Part II) is supported by Mapletree as its Diamond Sponsor. The second instalment featured 68 images from the Singapore River and the Seine River in Paris, France, photographed by Melisa Teo. It also included an Artist Talk<\/em> held at the library@harbourfront on 4 June 2025, with close to 60 attendees including students from Nanyang Girls\u2019 High School, the President and staff of Alliance Francaise de Singapour, library patrons and members of the public. Melisa Teo shared her journey as an artist, inspiring others to embrace their passions and pursue their dreams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The exhibition\u2019s official launch at VivoCity on 6 June 2025 welcomed guests including Mr Dinesh Vasu Dash, Minister of State for Culture, Community and Youth, and Manpower; and His Excellency Mr Stephen Marchisio, Ambassador of France to Singapore. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Two Rivers<\/em> exhibition first premiered at Anderson Bridge with more than 8,000 visitors from 23 April to 29 May 2025. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
