HO CHI MINH CITY<\/strong>\u00a0– More than\u00a0300 wildlife photography enthusiasts, conservationists\u00a0and\u00a0nature lovers gathered at SC\u00a0VivoCity\u00a0in Ho Chi Minh City\u00a0at the\u00a0opening and prize presentation\u00a0ceremony of the\u00a0\u2018The Rhythms of Nature\u2019\u00a0photography\u00a0exhibition,\u00a0jointly organised by\u00a0WildTour, the Vietnam Wildlife Photography Club and BirdLife\u00a0International, supported by the Ho Chi Minh City Photographic\u00a0Association (HOPA) and sponsored by Mapletree Investments\u00a0(Mapletree).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This\u00a0year\u2019s\u00a0exhibition\u00a0theme expanded\u00a0to cover the full suite of Vietnam\u2019s biodiversity,\u00a0from wild birds and mammals\u00a0to\u00a0less-profiled\u00a0species\u00a0such as\u00a0reptiles,\u00a0amphibians\u00a0and\u00a0dragonflies.\u00a0The\u00a0exhibition, held from 8 November to 14 November 2025,\u00a0is\u00a0the\u00a0culmination of a\u00a0three\u00a0month-long, nationwide\u00a0photography competition\u00a0that ran\u00a0from July\u00a02025\u00a0to\u00a0early September\u00a02025.\u00a0Mr\u00a0H\u1ed3\u00a0T\u1ea5n\u00a0Th\u1ecbnh\u00a0won the Mapletree \u2018macro\u2019 prize\u00a0while Mr\u00a0L\u00ea Minh Ng\u1ecdc\u00a0won\u00a0the Mapletree special prize for his\u00a0stunning\u00a0image of a Black-winged Stilt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of this competition and exhibition is to draw attention to Vietnam\u2019s awe-inspiring biodiversity and encourage people to consider these species in their daily lives. The exhibition also received a fantastic collection of bird images, including threatened species such as the Spoon-billed Sandpiper and the rarely seen Rufous-chinned Laughingthrush of the Hoang Lien cloud forests. Images submitted for the ‘macro’ photography category, include incredibly detailed close ups of a selection of butterflies and dragonflies, including an exceptional butterfly, the Green Dragontail Lamproptera meges<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClose to 800 images were received by our team, and many of them were exceptionally high-quality images of some of Vietnam\u2019s rarest species,” observed Mr Vo Quoc Thuan, lead organiser of the competition and chairperson of the Vietnam Wildlife Photography Club. He also chaired the judging panel with seven other experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was great to see such a diversity of photographic submissions received across Vietnam. I was particularly impressed with the fantastic selection of Vietnam\u2019s endemic and wild birds, primates and even snakes and lizards documented in these photographs. Besides the large number of bird images that we received I am also particularly impressed with other wildlife we are seeing for the first time. One rare image we received this year is the Gia Lai Pricklenape Agama, a very rare lizard found only in Vietnam and neighbouring Laos,\u201d observed Mr Nguyen Hoai Bao, director of WildTour and chairperson of the judging panel with five other experts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s exhibition is the third photographic exhibition supported by Mapletree, starting from the \u2018Wild Birds of Vietnam\u2019 in 2023. Earlier in the year in June, Mapletree also supported the second Vietnam Bird Race, held at Bi Doup-Nui Ba National Park. The organisers and supporters of this event plan to build on the success of this year\u2019s event and introduce new elements to attract more bird and nature enthusiasts from across Vietnam in the coming years.
