Mapletree Community Month 2025 raises close to S$24,000, records over 550 volunteer and learning hours

SINGAPORE – Mapletree Investments (“Mapletree” or “the Group”) is pleased to announce that Mapletree Community Month 2025 successfully raised close to S$24,000 for its beneficiaries and recorded over 550 volunteer and learning hours in its third edition. Notably, this represents a 50% increase in hours compared to the previous year’s edition.

The month-long activities from end-July to August brought together the working community across Mapletree properties in Singapore, encouraging Singapore-based employees of the Group and tenants to lend their time and efforts towards meaningful causes. A total of 284 Mapletree employees and 200 tenants from 22 tenant companies participated this year. As part of SG60 celebrations, the Group expanded Mapletree Community Month 2025 and rolled out 14 initiatives aligned to the Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) pillars of the Arts, Education, Environment and Healthcare.

Mr Edmund Cheng, Chairman, Mapletree, said, “This year, Mapletree proudly marks 15 years of giving back to the communities where we operate. Mapletree Community Month, now in its third run and a hallmark of our annual community outreach, underscores the importance of nurturing a more caring society. We commend our employees and the broader working community across our Singapore properties for their ongoing commitment to giving back. We are committed to creating more opportunities aligned with our CSR Framework to empower employees and stakeholders in contributing to meaningful causes.”

Healthcare
Under Mapletree’s Healthcare pillar, the Group packed and distributed SG60 goodie bags to St. Andrew’s Nursing Homes and held an informative session on bone marrow donation.

Mapletree employees came together to pack and distribute a total of 552 SG60 goodie bags, bringing National Day cheer to the St. Andrew’s Nursing Homes at Henderson and Queenstown. At the two nursing homes, Mapletree employees celebrated National Day with 71 seniors, singing and dancing to a medley of songs and playing a variety of games before concluding the event with cake.

Mapletree hosted a ‘Lunch and Learn’ Workshop by Bone Marrow Donor Programme, highlighting the urgent need for donors with 41 participants in attendance. The session successfully concluded with 30% of attendees registering as donors after they were more informed about Singapore’s bone marrow donor landscape. Every day, six Singaporeans are diagnosed with blood-related diseases, and registering as a donor can significantly improve their chances of finding a match.

Arts
Under the Arts pillar, Mapletree organised Mapletree Arts in the City: Befriending Edition, an Angklung, Kulintang and Gamelan workshop and a sketchwalk with Urban Sketchers Singapore.

Sixty seniors from NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Telok Blangah) and Adventist Active Centre @ Golden Clover attended Mapletree Arts in the City: Befriending Edition at Mapletree Business City (“MBC”). The performance included a five-piece live band from Musical Touch, a dazzling circus act by Bryan Wong also known as @Brylights and a few classics such as ‘The Young Ones’, ‘Let’s Twist Again’, and ‘When Will I See You Again’ performed by the Golden Years Ukulele Strummers.

Volunteers and seniors were also introduced to ‘Eh, How Ah’, a card game designed to teach seniors essential digital skills while promoting intergenerational bonding. The game workshop was conducted by Impact Colliders, a winner of Mapletree-SCCCI River Hongbao Hackathon (“RHBHacks”) 2025.

During the week, staff and tenants immersed themselves in a new art form. Participants discovered the enchanting sounds of Angklung, Kulintang and Gamelan instruments, learning to play ‘We Are Singapore’ in the two-hour workshop.

Over 90 sketching enthusiasts from Urban Sketchers Singapore embarked on an art-filled morning at St James Power Station. Participants explored the grounds and captured the building’s architecture and artistic sights onto their sketch books.

Environment
The activities implemented under the Environment pillar included a thrift store pop-up and workshops on vermicomposting, PVC banner upcycling and beeswax wrap making.

Over the three-day thrift store pop-up by Thryft, Style Theory and Muta Wear at Alexandra Retail Centre (“ARC”), members of the working community in Alexandra Precinct donated over 250 clothing items in exchange for store credits or opted to contribute the cash value of their items to Nature Society Singapore in support of local biodiversity and habitat conservation. Mallgoers had the opportunity to shop a curated mix of preloved books, vinyl and clothes, with each item repurposed for continued use.

Mapletree employees, tenants and the public actively participated in three hands-on environment-related workshops. Participants learnt how to transform food waste into compost through vermicomposting and upcycled two-square-metres of PVC banners into pouches with sustainable fashion brand Commenhers, winner of Mapletree-SCCCI RHBHacks 2022. The Sustainability Project returned for a second-year teaching participants how to create their own beeswax wrap with fabric rescued from landfills to cultivate a more sustainable lifestyle. Through this workshop, Mapletree rescued 42 pieces of fabric from the landfill, potentially eliminating the need for 126 rolls of plastic cling wrap.

Education
The Group raised close to S$24,000 under its Education pillar with the seventh edition of the Mapletree Futsal Challenge and an inaugural Mapletree Charity Sports Carnival. All proceeds go towards Boys’ Town and Beyond Social Services to support their youth-related programmes and the respective local artists who illustrated the Mapletree Art with a Purpose (“MAWP”) Pop-Up postcards as royalties.

The highly anticipated Open Category of the futsal challenge drew participation from a record 16 teams. Team Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank (“CIB”) emerged as Champions.

“We are grateful to Mapletree for giving us the opportunity to play, win and participate in giving back to charity. This meaningful event reminded us that sports can be a powerful force for good, and we look forward to participating in next year’s Mapletree Futsal Challenge,” said Mr Younes Noui, team captain of Team Crédit Agricole CIB.

With the community’s active participation and generous contribution, total donations amounted to S$23,000, including Mapletree’s dollar-for-dollar matching and contributions from schools participating in the Youth Category. A total of five teams from Boys’ Town / YouthReach, Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic participated, with Singapore Institute of Technology clinching the win.

In addition, Mapletree organised its inaugural Mapletree Charity Sports Carnival held at MBC’s Open Plaza. The working community at the Alexandra Precinct was invited to participate in life-sized carnival games, including bowling, table football and basketball by donating S$11.80 to charity. Participants also received a MAWP Pop-Up Postcard in return.
