MIT PLAYS ITS PART IN ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLINESS

Friends of Water

Our buildings at Kallang Basin 4 (KLB4) cluster were awarded the Public Utilities Board (PUB) Water Efficient Buildings (WEB) Certification and the PUB “Friends of Water” Certification in May this year for taking on a water saving project. The project involved the replacement of about 360 self-closing taps and 56 bib taps with water-efficient taps.

We have seen a significant reduction of the water consumption at KLB4 by about 40% within a short span of 2 months after completing the project!

As part of Mapletree Industrial’s efforts to contribute to environmental sustainability by saving water, MIT will be rolling out similar projects across the multi-tenanted buildings in the portfolio. MIT properties at the Clementi West, Kallang Basin 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6 clusters are currently being certified by PUB.

Launched in November 2008, PUB’s Water Efficient Buildings Programme is aimed at motivating the non-domestic sector to save 10% of their monthly water consumption. Under the scheme, there are targets for non-domestic users to lower their water consumption through benchmarking across the industry and sharing of best practices. The “Friends of Water” certification, on the other hand, is awarded to individuals and organisations in recognition of their contributions towards protecting Singapore’s water resources.
